Let’s Fall into Some Great Curb Appeal

Add curb appeal to your home for better sellability

Keeping your home looking fresh on the outside is just as important as it is on the inside. Many more people see the outside of your home than the inside of your home, so you want to make sure that it represents you to the world in the right way. Here are some ways that you can increase your curb appeal this fall.

Replace Lighting

Doing a simple replacement of old light fixtures and hardware can make a big difference. It can make your home go from looking outdated to right in style. Light fixtures add character to the home. They are a great accent piece. So you want to make sure that you select pieces that match the style of the home as well as bring it new life.

Makeover the Mailbox

Having your mailbox at the entrance to your yard makes it easy to transform it into a miniature work of art. Be creative and add your mailbox into your landscape design. Your mailbox doesn’t have to be just practical, it can also be an inviting way to say, “Welcome to our Home”.

Driveway Refresh

There is nothing nice about having a cracked or pothole-filled driveway. Not only is it unpleasant to drive on, it isn’t pretty to look at either. If you are trying to increase your home's curb appeal, take a look at your driveway to see if could use some refreshing, a power washing or new concrete. Sometimes, you can add character by adding things like some brick accents or resurface it with colored concrete.

Re-Design a Path

The walkway up to your front door speaks volumes to passer-byers or guests. There are many ways to spruce up the pathway to your front door. First off, if you don’t have a sidewalk, get one. You can pour cement, use bricks, pavers or lay down slate or rock to make the sidewalk unique to your home. Line the side of your walk with shrubs and plants, making it a clear line to your front door. If you have space on your front porch, add some potted plants on the steps or even a chair to make it look more inviting and welcoming.

Add Lighting

Going along with the sidewalk element, adding some solar lighting fixtures along the sidewalk can also add to curb appeal. It adds character to your home during the day and lights the way to the door at night.

Since more people see the outside of your home, it can’t hurt to add one or two of these tips to your fall home upkeep list. For additional ways to spruce up your home's curb appeal take a look at our March 2016 post - Add Curb Appeal to Your Spring Sprucing.
